Day 16 - PV - It's the end of the world as we know it... and I feel fine...

Have ya'll heard?? The RAPTURE is happening tomorrow. Yes folks, I'm afraid this is it.... at 6pm (CST) tomorrow (so nice of Jesus to give an exact time of arrival right?! And it's even in Central time - so considerate!) Judgement Day will be underway. It's all very exciting...

......

Yea, so I think we can all safely assume (based on 2000 years of people predicting the Rapture/ Apocalypse and being absolutely WRONG) that at 6pm tomorrow night... we'll all be watching Wheel of Fortune like normal. (oh, wait... maybe that's just me with the Wheel of Fortune - geeky music aside: Whenever I watch Wheel of Fortune, I sing "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana in my head... you should try it sometime, it REALLY heightens the drama.... ) But, ridiculousness aside - there is always that small part of you that still says "what if they're right??"..... that part of ME responds with: "If they ARE right, I better have some freaking CARBS on standby.... just in case!!!"

In all likelihood, I'm not going to need to stuff myself with last minute Carbs as the Four Horsemen ride in on clouds of fire and doom.... good thing too, because I think my body might have a really ugly adverse reaction to Carb overload after being on Dukan for so long. As my sister said this morning: "You might think the world is ending for an entirely different reason!".... (GROSS!)

Ok, enough about the NOT end of the world. On to the diet. You might notice from the ticker up top that I've lost another 1.5 lbs - I've crossed back into the 130s (just barely! but we're going to count it). I'm very excited by that - as it has been quite a while since I've seen the 130s. So, obviously, the diet is going well.

From my observation and practice, Dukan is a system where you MUST innovate. You're given a list of raw ingredients.... and you have to make interesting, good-tasting foods out of those ingredients. This is easier said than done when you take away all the standard go-to things (like cheese, garlic salt, regular salt, etc) that make food taste good. This forces you to come up with things and use unusual ingredients (like balsamic vinegar and plain yogurt) to create flavors and dishes. If I couldn't cook, this would be an almost impossible program for me to follow. You have to have a relatively good sense of how flavors combine and basic cooking techniques. Thankfully, some recipes are provided in the book - and it is rather easy to create variations from those.
