Lets Talk about salt...

When I read the specifics for this diet.... one thing that Dr. Dukan stressed was the perils of salt consumption. We all know (or we should know) that excessive salt consumption can lead to bloating/water-retention, cardiovascular issues... etc. Those effects (minus the Cardio stuff) seemed to be magnified within the context of the Dukan Diet.

Yesterday I made the mistake of putting a little bit of salt on my meat... not a terribly great amount, mind you... but enough to add some much needed flavor. I did not realize, until I got up this morning and weighed myself... what a major no-no that was. Now, granted... the fall-out on the scale was not anything drastic... but it was enough to make me want to go back in and read again about salt intake.

Apparently, as little as ONE TEASPOON of salt (we're talking regular table salt here people) is enough to make you retain TWO POUNDS of fluids.... this is just insanity ya'll...

So, today... I obviously refrained from salt use. (Although, at dinner, I couldn't resist a tiny tiny molecule of adobo seasoning... you'll see why in a minute). Lesson learned, Dr. Pierre... lesson learned.

Water 10 oz

Snack:
Ham Deli Meat

I'm doing my last day of ATTACK!!?!?! tomorrow.... then on Monday, I get to have VEGETABLES. You have no idea how much this excites me. Seriously. I'm going to go out tomorrow and load up on lots of lovely veggies (of course Dr. Pierre has provided a thorough list of approved veggies... and no, potatoes aren't on it.. sad panda)... it will be heavenly to have some green beans with my meat... instead of... meat.. with my meat.. (awkward face....)

Hopefully, we've all learned something from the salt debacle... I know I have... effing salt...
